Members meet once a
month, usually at 9:30 am on the third Sunday of the month to discuss
needs that have been presented to them.
They have two
clothing collection mornings each year, one in the Spring and one in the
Fall with items collected going to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store
on Park Avenue in Worcester.
Members sponsor a
monthly food collection weekend (3rd of the month) when
parishioners are asked to bring items of non-perishable food with them
to Mass to be used to stock the shelves of the Food Pantry for
distribution to people who come to the parish looking for assistance.
Meal baskets are
prepared and distributed to households in need for Thanksgiving and
Christmas each year.
Members also attempt
to respond directly or by referral to various emergency needs of people
who turn to the parish in their need.
MONTHLY MUSTARD SEED MEAL
On the second
Tuesday of each month, a group of parishioners prepares and serves a hot
meal at the Catholic Worker facility known as The Mustard Seed on
Piedmont Street in Worcester. The parish’s Outreach Ministry provides
the financial resources to purchase the food.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR OUTREACH MINISTRY
Contributions
are always welcome to enable our various ministries to reach out in the
name of all parishioners. A portion of the Holy Day Collections is set
aside for use by our Outreach Ministries.
BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY
This ministry
group is developing to be a supportive outreach of the parish to people
who have experienced the death of loved ones. The support is offered in
prayer and a listening ear at monthly gatherings and through phone call
ministry.
QUILTING ANGELS
A group of
parishioners and friends meets on various Monday evenings at 7:00 pm in
the Parish Center to sew and crochet or knit items that are used in
various caring agencies and ministries in the city of Worcester. For
information, you can call Doris Power at 508-799-7892.
